On the blank map, draw the limits of the Byzantine empire, the islamic world and the Western Christendom with their main cities at the beginning of the XIIth century. Show how the situation changed during the XIIth century. Make a key to the map.

Fill out the three parallel timelines on your worksheet for the Byzantine empire, the islamic world and the Western Christendom. Your timeline must show how the three civilizations were born, their evolution, their conquests (or their territorial losses) and important religious events.
